Primary Schools are now required to publish alongside their Performance information a list of their childcare provision making it easier for parents to know what is available.
Peases West Primary School offers a range of childcare provision which we have listed below:
Nursery Admission Information
Parents/carers can place their child’s name on our waiting list for a nursery at the beginning of the school year (1st September to 31st August) in which your child has his or her second birthday. We have 3 termly intakes into Nursery. Children start the term after their 3rd Birthday.
To apply for a place, please complete a Nursery Application Form given below and return it to school.

You will be given a slip which confirms that your child’s name has been placed on the waiting list. However, this does not guarantee your child will be given a place. Letters offering nursery places will be dispatched the term before they are due to start.
30 hours free childcare
As you may be aware, all children aged 3 and 4 years old have a universal offer of 15 hours Nursery provision. From September 2017, working Parents will be offered an additional 15 hours if the following criteria is met:
- earning less than £100 000 a year
- working a minimum of 16 hours a week
Peases West Primary School is offering 30 hours provision in our Nursery to eligible 3 and 4 year olds.
Parents are now able to check their eligibility for 30 hours online on the ‘Childcare Choices’ website: www.childcarechoices.gov.ukParents are now able to check their eligibility for 30 hours online on the ‘Childcare Choices’ website – link below. If eligible, parents will receive a code which they will take to the Nursery/childcare provider of their choice, together with their National Insurance Number and their child’s date of birth. Nurseries/providers will need to validate their code with Durham County Council before a place can be offered.

Nurseries/ childcare providers will be able to validate this online through the new ‘Synergy’ system. All 30 hours parents will need to complete and sign the parental declaration form (below) to allow this and other checks to be carried out through the new online system.

We also offer a breakfast and lunch club for Nursery children each day, and a range of Out of School Hours Learning sessions for children in main school.
